OK I corrected that too.

Yes, ausign + anusvara -> u+0971 is wrong too. My gucharmap neet not be uptodate but it says that u+0971 is not assigned. It should be au + anusvara dot. This is not that frequent in Hindi, therefore I have not noticed it yet.

There was an explicit rule in the tables to make that replacement.

But why? Figured it out. In Gargi (the original font for the FreeSans Devanagari range), several auxiliary characters are unfortunately placed within the Unicode range, and lookup rules were made for those. Later when the Unicode code points were assigned, the glyphs were replaced, but the lookups remained.

I think I fixed this last night. In SVN.

In the same lookup there is a similar entry
ausign + anusvara -> u+0971
this seems wrong to me. Shouldn't it resolve to a glyph
like the au sign with an anusvara dot?

I see the problem.

Devanagari characters U+094B (dependent vowel o) and U+0902 (anusvara) are incorrectly substituted with U+0911 (candra o). Demo files displaying the same word in Nakula and FreeSans are attached.
