I was able to reproduce it, albeit on another info file (there is no "Stand-alone" xref in info.info on my box). The attached patch fixes it. Does it work for you?

Hi Sergey,

Please try this:
run info from the cmdline, to get to the dir node.
then do m info RET, to get to the info manual.
then do r, for the cross-reference command.

for me, the result is the expected text,
Follow xref (Stand-alone Info):

... but the cursor is over the "a" (in "Stand-alone"), instead of after the ": ". (If I type a character, the cursor does move to after the colon.)

This does not happen if I run info info from the cmdline. Then the cursor is at the right position after the colon, after pressing r.

This is with LC_ALL=C.

Can you reproduce?

Thanks,
karl

P.S. on the info-virtual-index request, I meant to say that i will add it to the doc in the various places.
