the documentation says:

`--ignore-case' Ignore case when matching files and directories. This influences the behavior of -R, -A, -I, and -X options, as well as globbing implemented when downloading from FTP sites. For example, with this option, `-A *.txt' will match `file1.txt', but also `file2.TXT', `file3.TxT', and so on.

These are exactly the two cases covered by --ignore-case. It won't work in the case you have reported in the initial bug report.

if that's the case, then the documentation is unclear. the '--ignore-case' item is not in the 'FTP Options' section (2.9), it's in section (2.11), and there's nothing in the description of it that implies that it's FTP-only. There's mention of how it also effects FTP globbing, but that does not imply that it only works for FTP.

actually, I just looked at the source, and it seems like the 'acceptable' function is used for the non-FTP path, so the documentation is fine.

please re-open.

--ignore-case, as documented, works only for FTP, it is an expected behaviour.

i'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature request...

when specifying both --no-clobber and --ignore-case I'd expect wget to ignore the case of existing files when checking for clobber.

for example, if the file 'FOO' already exists locally and I execute
wget --no-clobber --ignore-case http://example.com/foo
I would not expect anything to be downloaded.

If this isn't the intended use of --ignore-case, can we have an option that does this?
