thanks for the report. I am going to push a patch which `close's the open file descriptor.

Explicitly closing the file descriptor in trunc to eliminate leaks reported by static analysis tools. This is a cosmetic change; just cleaning up to reduce testing tool output. Well, except for the test for close, which can fail under certain circumstances.
