I added more explanations for some of the other options and committed your changes in this changeset (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/5289d7c2460d).

Here's a patch that hopefully list all of the options and explains a bit of some.

I have used the help text of fminunc_compat in the octave-forge optim package to write the help text of some of the options. I then went through all the functions in scripts/optimization to complete the list of options.

Hi

when reading the documentation of fminunc, it points to the help text of optimset for description of options. The help text of fminbnd points to "*note optimset: doc-optimset". However, none of these places explains what the options mean.
