An interesting twist is that http://strk.keybit.net/tmp/media.flv is not actually an FLV, but MPEG4. That said, the Gst parser appears to correctly identify the video as such.

I found out what the problem is: I was using gst, switching to ffmpeg such test runs fine.
With gst, here it takes 6-7 MB/second and log is full of

28169:2] 26300 ERROR: MediaParserGst failed to push more data into the demuxer! Seeking back.
