Promoting is a good workaround but not a solution.

Please find a way in which Solaris can be told to shut up about missing commands and re-open this bug.

In spite of the redirection of standard err to /dev/null, the lack of sysctl on SunOS is appearing (although the right answer is being found). I just "promoted" the solaris versions on this machine ahead of the freebsd and darwin versions.
