http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=553490 reports that wdiff overstriking output mode lacks support for multi-byte encodings, UTF-8 in particular. The application should output one character at a time, intermixed with backspaces and either the same character or an _, for underline or bold. Currently it does this on a byte-by-byte basis, which gives incorrect results.
