With 042a0d6e9 you removed quoted insertion by octal escape codes on the lua branch, but that code is still on the C branch.

Can you think of a good use for octal quoted insert? If so we should revert the change set that removed the feature.

I tend to think removing is the right thing though, in which case the feature needs to be removed on the C branch too.
