The real problem seems to be that Wget produces spurious paths in recursive downloading, paths of the kind <domain>/<external domain>/<path>/<file>.

This can be seen too in the resulting directory structure, where external domains end up inside the domain that is being mirrored (and the files inside these domain directories are all 404 error pages).

This may be the result of a missing -H, but even then it is strange behaviour.
