Fixed in this changeset (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/9b98affe52b9). This should be present in release 3.4.3 scheduled for the next month. Otherwise, the user can build from the stable source repository.

Confirmed. And it affects both toolkits (gnuplot and FLTK).
