Philippe:

I apologize. I guess I wasn't tapping in the exact right spot. If I tap precisely where the dice are located in my home board, then the dice do roll. It's fine--no need for the ICON after all.

I really appreciate the fast and helpful response!

Thank you,

Ken Bour

Clicking (or, in your case, tapping) anywhere on the board should roll the dice. Is this not the case ?

The auto-roll feature rolls automatically only if you don't have the opportunity to double. Otherwise you have to clik/tap, either on the board (to roll the dice) or on the doubling cube on the side of the board or on the double button on the top bar (to offer a double).

It is true that there are already double, accept and reject buttons on the menu bar so a "roll dice" one makes sense. On the other hand, this buttons bar is already too wide for smaller screens.

I recently discovered GNU Backgammon and love the program, especially its tutor mode. I am using a Tablet PC with ink stylus and would appreciate having a ROLL Icon on the top menu bar to save me the two awkward taps on Game/Roll (menus). Because I don't have a keyboard attached, I lack the CTRL-R command. I am using the auto-roll feature, but it seems to work sporadically requiring me to manually roll the dice on my turn.

Thanks,

Ken Bour

P.S. I am using Windows 7 64-bit; that option does not appear in the O/S list.
