JWE did a lot of changes to the memory management system of Octave recently. Can you retry "graphics_toolkit fltk; clf" and see if there is still a problem?

The problem still exists for MacOS.

It's nice when a bug resolves itself. Can this bug report be closed? Or is there still a problem on the Mac side?

I restarted VB and tried again, pulled, update -C, and II no longer see a crash on Ubuntu.

Not sure what changed, but no need for a back-trace.

Perhaps you can also post the log from the failure inside the Ubuntu VM? The original log you posted has a line "/usr/include/c++/4.2.1/bits/basic_string.h:280" which would be mismatched vto the gcc version you are using of 4.4.3. But I'm not sure if that log is from the Mac or Ubuntu side.

My Ubuntu via Virtual box is 10.04 also.

gcc is 4.4.3
ftlk is 1.1.10

Any ideas?
