It is interesting that the sound error happened (Possibly something else had control of the windows sound driver). If Sounds got turned off, you can try going to "Settings" menu, then "Options" then click on the "Sound" Tab. Make sure there is a checkbox by "Enable Sound effects".

Depending on the version you are using you may have to click on Settings menu and do a "Save Settings". I'd also recommend downloading the latest release of Windows version of GNUBG.

I like the sound effects of the dice ahaking and rolling. While I was playing backgammom on GNU yesterday, I got a message that the sound had an error and would be turned off. Now I can only play "silent" BG games. How do I get the sound effects turned back on?
