A command such as :
wget --save-headers --output-document=output.html http://www.example.com
would save the HTTP headers within the html file.

Here, I as the programmer calling wget, has to do the additional step of separating the headers from the downloaded content, which could have been avoided if we had an option like --save-headers=headers.log

There are mainly two advantages with such an option:
1) The downloaded content only has the 'real' content (which is of interest to the end user). No wasting resources/time on doing additional processing on the downloaded content.
2) Our code becomes simpler. (which is big in my opinion. No need to spending time doing trivial tasks, rather we can focus on the overall logic/architecture of the program. Also it a better way to use existing utilities)
