./configure --enable-threads && make clean && make

And it will show in the build info that threading support is build in. Auto detection of the number of cpus is only available in windows, so you need to set the number of threads manually in options->other.

Hello,

(I did search the archives for a solution, BTW.)

I've used gnubg for years on WinXP. My faster computers (in this case an Intel Core 2 quad 9300) are running 64 bit Ubuntu 9.10 and I followed (verbatim) the instructions of SuperflyJon at http://www.gnubg.org/index.php?itemid=100

The build info reports:
Version GNU Backgammon 0.90.0 Mar 4 2011 and shows support for Python, SQLite, GTK, External players, 3D boards, External commands, and SSE/SSE2.

The software works fine, but I haven't figured out how to run rollouts using multiple cores from the GUI window. (I could not find an Option allowing me to set the number of cores.) Using the LINUX 'top' command while running both the evaluation engine and a test rollout (separately), only 25% of the CPUs were running in each case.

Did I fail to use an install option which activates multicore capabilities?

thanks,

Chuck
