Added a few lines about where letters are to be found in a "usage.txt" file.

Cheers!

Hi, Jaques!

Now that you ask, it occurs to me that maybe I should explain this somewhere--It's obvious to me only because I've been dealing with font technologies for a long time.

The characters you want are there. Under the link "coverage"
http://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/coverage.html
on the main page, you can see which character ranges are in which file.

The support for multiple ranges of characters in a single font file is a capacity of the font formats (e.g. OpenType). Just how to find a given character in the font file is a matter of the encoding, which in FreeFont is the Unicode encoding UTF-8..
This is nothing special to FreeFont--many modern fonts are set up this way.

Just install the fonts, and use them in some modern software. Once the fonts are installed, you can see some of the character ranges on the sample pages
http://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/ranges/

The term "face" is not very well defined. I use it to distinguish Serif/Sans/Mono, and "style" to distinguish normal/bold/oblique.

The FreeSerif face contains the most characters. You will see there the Greek range and a quite large selection of Math symbols.

If you have further questions, you might consider asking on the mailing list. If you see any problems with the fonts, this is the place to report them!

Thanks!

I apologize in advance if this sounds stupid. But, the main
page refers to a large number of font families, including greek
letters, and math symbols.

In the download repository I found only three front families and four styles for each. I uploaded the file and rendered the fonts
with FreeType2, which are beautiful by the way .. congratulations. In each file there is only one face. So, Am I missing something obvious ...?

.. Are there other files for Greek/Math symbols?

This is a wonderful resource .. congratulations to the designers

Sincerely,
Jacques Beaumont
