Note - currently when you open a single position, GnuBG doesn't recognize it as such and positions the display in accordance with the "Settings|Options|Other|Goto first game" setting. Paging up is only appropriate when this is not set; otherwise, several Page Downs need to occur (3 for a cube/no cube decision, 4 for a checker play).

So if this change is made, it's best to bypass the code that evaluates the "Goto first game" setting (which might be a good idea regardless of whether this change is done).

Ignore my last comment - I found a workaround. At the position where you didn't throw the cube, remove the dice with Edit and replace the roll with a double. Regardless of the bot's reply, save the position where you doubled (saving GnuBG's response currently causes it to abend when the position is opened).

If coding for the situation in my last comment is too much work, is it possible to save a "pre-roll" position? After paging up twice, the dice are off the board, but if you save that position, the result is identical to what was initially saved. Paging up a third time before resaving is worse since it loses both the analysis and whose turn it is.

This enhancement would be especially valuable if you could overcome the one weakness of manually paging up. For positions where GnuBG thinks you should have doubled, you actually need to page up TWICE. This is easily enough noticed if you look at the analysis display, but many try to avoid looking at that until after evaluating the position. And even if you do notice it, you then know that GnuBG thinks the cube was turned too late rather than too soon.

When reviewing saved positions, you need to immediately hit "Page Up" if you don't want to see the result of the played move or cube decision. If people do that the great majority of the time, why not do it automatically or at least have it as an Open option? I can't really see the point of not paging up immediately and find it annoying when I accidentally notice the decision made at the table.
