GRUB 1.98 shows no error number. It means that you still have GRUB0.97 or lower. So please upgrade. If the bug still persist please file a new one with the critics relevant to recent version.

Grub is often hard enough to get working and bad error messages make it worse. I'm trying to boot and getting a "Error 15: File not Found".

It would be useful if it showed what file isn't found.

Additionally cryptic error codes are not as useful as a longer code that explains the error in detail, perhaps offering a hint of a solution. After all, you can't hardly get a device these days that isn't in gigabytes of data. Surely there's room for good error messages.
