Ok. I've open a new bug report.

I think the original text normalized bug is fixed, but this is a new behavior and so deserves a different bug report. I'll mark this report as fixed and close it. If you can open the second report that would be good.

Rik, I see the same thing. After the commands below, the line object is not visible.

However, if I follow up with a text command without "normalized" units ...

... the line object and all text objects are present.

Shall I start a new bug report?

I'm getting a strange side effect with the FLTK backend. If I use the two-line example you posted then the call to text causes the plot to disappear. This does not happen with the gnuplot backend. It also doesn't happen if I call text normally after plot without the "units", "normalized" option. Once text has been called once then the subsequent call to text with the normalized option works.

I've pushed a trivial fix.

Perhaps it should be tested more, so I'll leave it open for now.

In Octave's current sources, the commands ...

Place the words "Hello World" at the bottom left of the plot at the data coordinates (0.05, 0.95).

However, Matlab treats the text position coordinates as already having been converted to the specified units. Thus, the text shows up in the upper left corner of the axis.

When using the set command ...

Matlab and Octave both set the units after the position property has been set.
