There is a patch attached to the bug that I pointed out to you.

Anyway, there are lots of bug fixes in CVS that warrant a new release, but unfortunately right now I'm in the middle of integrating support for OS/2 and MINGW into the source tree, so it's not a good time. I hope to spend some time on this in a few weeks and get out a beta release.

This bug is a duplicate of bug #1517, which has been fixed. See that bug report for a patch.

When make 3.80 is used with the following makefile, I get
make: *** virtual memory exhausted. Stop.
If the last '1' is removed then I get the sensible failure
make: *** No rule to make target `7', needed by `main'. Stop.

Note that removing the last '1' reduces the size of the arg
to $(eval) from 193 chars to 192 chars (i.e. 128+64), which is
suspicious.
