This is fixed. <#2423> shows correctly as ␣ provided the font has it (at least it works with stix).

You can also achieve this with <wide*| |\<wide-squnderbrace\>>

You need to have the corresponding glyph in the font. Using stix with your example I get a blank space between A and B, for instance.

I see three possibilities:

  • Prepare the glyph and add it to the font (no idea how this is actually done)
  • Use virtual fonts (bad bad idea because they are rasterized)
  • Use graphics (like in the dice you did, I guess)

Lyx can display the open-box symbol (used to show space characters)

Firefox can do it with this html:
<html><body>&#x41;&#x2423;&#x42;</body></html>

But I can't make TeXmacs do it.

The above html file when imported into texmacs should show what looks like a squared-off letter u in between A and B:

<html><body>&#x41;&#x2423;&#x42;</body></html>

But shows this instead:
A\<#2423\>B

We see that texmacs imported &#x41; and &#x42; correctly, but could not import &#x2423; correctly.

I guess ./src/TeXmacs/langs/encoding/tmuniversaltounicode.scm
will be involved in the fix, but the first question is: can texmacs even display it, or display arbitrary unicode that doesn't have a texmacs tag to represent it?
