I'm closing this and marking it as fixed since Jason and John both say that it is fixed.

It seems to work for me.

I pushed an additional change to address a memory problem.

Looking at the code, it's clear to me that we need more flexible
framework for parsing lists of variables. I found myself wanting the same thing when writing other commands. We shouldn't have to spend so much effort on the "housekeeping" when writing statistics.

I'll see what I can do to make things a bit simpler.

I just pushed a fix for this. It also fixes a broader problem. Please test.

Valgrind shows a read error. On my GNU/Linux system this caused a crash. Apparently on Windows it doesn't crash, but gives incorrect output.
