Version 1.0: Join a number of successive notes of equal pitch but unequal duration and create a new note with the total duration, deleting all others. (If needed create tied notes)

Version 1.5: Only join selected ones of equal pitch

Version 2.0: Join all notes in the selection, create a chord of the important notes and consider the metric position, too.
This needs the development of music analysis tools.

Example: The melody is: c e g bb in 8th and you select all and join notes. The resulting chord has a half-note duration and is C7 (c e g bb)

Example 2: The melody is: c e #f g, the result will be a C-major chord and the #f dropped because its not a chord-member.
