I've pushed the point-in-bounds implementation.
I dubt many movies will rely on point-in-shape implementation, anyway point-in-bounds is surely better than nothing.
We'll log an UNIMPL now too...

For the record Ben's test is DefineTextTest.swf in misc-ming.all.
Shows we need to hitTest shapes, not bounds.

I have no idea how compatible TextField's handling is, but StaticText checks the glyph shapes; that's in the test.

TextField also just checks for point in bounds.
Actually, the TextField's pointInShape implementation really looks
equal to the default DisplayObject's pointInBounds...

I added some tests for this, but didn't fix the bug.

This is still a problem with master.
Also tried in SWF6 version, and it's still supposed to do hitTest.
Attached version 6.

Doesn't sound much different than checking shapes hitTest (there's a flag to switch between bounding-box and real-shape test).
Glyphs are still shapes, right?

Static text should actually check to see whether a glyph has been hit, so it's not as simple as checking the bounds.

The bug is that StaticText has no real pointInVisibleShape test! Making it return pointInBounds() fixes this case, but needs further testing.

The error comes from

attachMovie("dot", name, depth)

but the movie does not export dot and doesn't import anything. I guess this is an error on the part of the SWF author but not relevant to the bug.

The problem is the lack of response when you move over the "region" fields. Those fields are Shapes inside a MovieClip in Gnash.

I doubt it has to do with the export (though it's not impossible).
