4) You were playing a 7 points match. At this stage, gnubg, having missed its last chance shot, is sure to lose a gammon on a 4 cube for 8 points, so it loses the match anyway ; the backgammon is irrelevant.

5) Here, gnubg enforces the rule that you must play both dice if possible : as you discovered, you cannot play only 2/off with the 5, you must play 2/1* with the ace then 1/off with the 5.

You indeed never have to hit just because it is possible, but you have to play both dice if possible (and the larger one if you can play one or the other but not both).

1) I'm a newb and believe this is best categorized as a rollout.

2) Have attached the game which I hope you will be able import.

3) Challenge question should be what year versus what date as doesn't date mean day and month also? :-)

4) Strange checker behavior noticed just before my final roll. Again, hope that attached game will show. In short, computer moved his pieces into his home area (19-24) rather than moving out of my home area which almost assured my backgammon over the computer.

5) The bug is that I have my remaining piece on slot 2, computer has a piece on slot 1. I rolled a 5/1 and just clicked on my slot 2 piece to bear off using the 5 in the roll. Then clicked on the dice to end the game. I couldn't end the game. :-( Bumming big time as I had just backgammoned the computer. I undid my move, hit the splot in 1 and then beared off and my moves were accepted. While I am the newb, I believe that one isn't forced to hit a splot. In the end, embarassing game for the computer as I backgammed him/her while he still had splots on the bar. >:-)

Am thinking that the end game strategy became confused because of the computer's checker movement before I rolled my final roll.

Amazing game. Thank you for the work.
