You wrote colloc.m, but in Octave the colloc function is a .oct file. Are you using the colloc.m file that I translated from the Fortran sources?

In any case, I see the error with the .oct file function too.

If there is no way to avoid the problem with the calculation, then I think it would be best too throw an error if it fails.

Run the attached code. At n=312, colloc.m produces unreliable results. For n large enough, a failure with finite precision arithmetic is inevitable, but some warnings would be nice.
