Tagline now defaults to blank, as newbies don't know how to get rid of the annoying ad.

Improved version uses periods instead of underscores, and a little bit of formatting(the version for Denemo will be updated as long as VERSION_MAJOR etc. are updated). This is the lilypond generated:

\header{
tagline = \markup {\center-column {\line {"Generated by Denemo 0.8.19" \char ##x2014 "www.denemo.org"}
\line {"Engraving by LilyPond" #(ly:export (lilypond-version)) \char ##x2014 "www.lilypond.org"}}}
}

This gives credit to Denemo and Lilypond:

Generated by Denemo 0.8.19 — http://www.denemo.org
Engraving by LilyPond 2.13.4 — http://www.lilypond.org

If you want to ditch the Lilypond reference, watch out for parenthesis etc. in the scheme.
This is the scheme generating the tagline:

<scheme>(d-DirectivePut-scoreheader-postfix "ScoreTagline" (string-append "tagline = \\markup {\\center-column {\\line {\"Generated by Denemo "(number->string VERSION_MAJOR) "." (number->string VERSION_MINOR) "." (number->string VERSION_MICRO) "\" \\char ##x2014 \"www.denemo.org\"}\n \\line {\"Engraving by LilyPond\" #(ly:export (lilypond-version)) \\char ##x2014 \"www.lilypond.org\"}}}\n"))</scheme>

init.denemo attached.

Change init.denemo in usr\share\denemo\actions to the attached.
The only change is I deleted the static <scoreheader> field, and added a scheme script which sets the scoreheader field to use DENEMO_VERSION instead of static version numbers.
Currently the outputted scoreheader is

\header{
tagline = "Generated by Denemo 0_8_19_Win, go to http://denemo.org"
}

Editing it under Titles etc->Tagline does in fact edit it.

This problem is still there, and easy to fix on a version by version basis.
Just change the line in init.denemo (in share/actions) from 0.8.1 to the current version.
Might as well update the website from the sourceforge one to denemo.org while you're at it.
I suppose the best thing would be to have DENEMO_VERSION there instead.

I haven't investigated, but I think this may be that essentially you are loading an old file, which retains an old tagline. I may be wrong.
We could do with preventing this tagline appearing unless it has been set, as it can be annoying especially to those who don't want to spend time figuring out how to change it.

The string "Generated by Denemo 0.8.1" seems to be hardcoded in its version number, but it should use the real version instead.
