That was my concern - I am new to scheme, and I may simple have got muddled when I fixed that idea in my head, I may have made a confused test and convinced myself the defines were visible outside the let. Maybe it was outside something else...
Thanks for checking this out.
Nils - isn't set! and error if the var does not exist already?

(define) it not the problem, its create variables depending on its own position.
(set!) creates global vars.

I have checked whether the functions/variables are global , and whenever I try to invoke something that was defined using (define ) inside a (let..), it's not recognized, it's considered an unbound variable. So anything defined inside a let is not global in the sense of crowding the denemo namespace. If that was your concern about global variables, then it shouldn't be an issue. This script and others I've written along these lines (e.g. rebar) have all (define)s inside (let)s. If let is preferable to define for these kinds of things it shouldn't be too tough to change the syntax used. Is that what your concern was, or did I miss something?

Hmm, I had assumed that defines inside lets were not global--I'll check it one of these days. Just my lazy approach to scheme, learning enough to get by, and define seems an easier syntax.
The only other comment I have is that the documentation for Anacrusis says that it turns the current measure into an upbeat/pickup. Maybe that would be a better way to go, but right now, it always goes back to the first bar of the piece, not the current measure. So we should either change the doc. to say "turns the first measure into an upbeat/pickup" or change the script to be more like ShortMeasure. But then they would be redundant- so probably the doc should say it turns the first measure of the score into an upbeat/etc.

I've changed some old-style code and pushed these scripts. However, I think they contain global variables that should be made local, so I will keep this open for now.

I amended the Anacrusis and ShortMeasure scripts to use the functions I wrote for Rebar that calculate measure lengths. These account for tuplets and grace notes. If you change the measure, you can rerun the command and it will update the anacrusis/shortmeasure directive.

d-Anacrusis counts the duration of the upbeat, but does not account for tuplets etc.
workaround: put notes for the upbeat not involving tuplets, invoke d-Anacrusis and then edit the notes to have the desired triplets.
This workaround will cease to be good once d-Anacrusis becomes dynamically re-calculating.
