Summary:
gnustep-startup-0.23.0/configure is unable to locate X11.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download GNUstep Startup from http://wwwmain.gnustep.org/resources/downloads.php#core. The current version is 0.23.0.
2. Unarchive.
3. Navigate to resulting folder.
4. Run InstallGNUstep. It will run configure.
Expected Results:
I expected to proceed beyond configure. I don't know what I should specifically be expecting, as over the three years I've been reading and following this project, I've never tried to actually install it.
Actual Results:
A number of configure checks fail. The error relevant to this report states it is unable to locate X11. X11 is installed and available at /usr/X11/ with a symlink at /usr/X11R6; both locations are specified in the configure script section beginning at line 5778.
/usr/X11 is not empty, as demonstrated in attachment ls-laR-X11.txt
Regression:
The environment is Mac OS X 10.6.2 on a MacBook Air 1,1. X11 is 2.3.4, as provided by Apple. There is no newer version available for 10.6.x series systems. Development environment is as included with Xcode 3.2.2 beta 1.
Notes:
The other failures, which I deemed (likely incorrectly) unrelated are related to the following missing libraries: libjpeg, libtiff and libpng, as well as an interesting one about an outdated libobjc. I'll ask about that one in a seperate item.
