Thanks for the report.

-k is not allowed when -O does not specify a regular file and wget exits with an error now.

Hopefully in the future this limitation will be removed.

For example, this command consistently hangs:
wget -k -O - http://www.w3.org/ > /tmp/junk.html

whereas it works fine without the -k option:
wget -O - http://www.w3.org/ > /tmp/junk.html

and it works fine with -k if it isn't writing to stdout:
wget -k -O /tmp/junk.html http://www.w3.org/

--------------------

BTW, the author has a misconception about the usefulness of the -k option in case of downloading multiple URIs. The man page mentions: "-k makes no sense for multiple URIs when they're all being downloaded to a single file". But that is not true. Bear in mind that converting links is very useful even if the resulting page is not going to be displayed all. Many times, wget is used as one part of a pipeline in which the downloaded page is scanned for useful links, and it is much easier to do such processing if the links have been converted to absolute URIs by use of the -k option.
