This an extremely difficult situation to evaluate and I guess that I wouldn't trust anybody in the world to tell right from wrong. You do gain a lot in flexibility at virtually no risk. Not a bug anyway.

I filed this under 'feature request' as this is something that could be improved in the future, but isn't fatal in any way.

I was playing a game and an odd situation arose:
GNU Backgammon Position ID: CwAA3zu43zYAAA
Match ID : RAkKAAAACAAA

Black's move here seems obvious: 8/6 8/4. However, gnubg's tutor flagged it as an incorrect move, and suggested the baffling 8/4 7/5. I ran both 4-ply and full rollout analysis, and it still suggested this as having +0.037 equity. Other bg programs (i.e. snowie) give 8/6 8/4 a considerable lead in equity, meaning there is something lacking in gnubg's assessment of backgame situations.
