Perhaps this script would be more convenient if the lines

(d-EndTuplet)
(d-CursorLeft)

were appended. This would make it more like the built-in triplet command, where you don't have to use the EndTuplet command separetely, just cursor past the EndTuplet mark.

The bug is fixed (I hope) and I have put the command StartTuplet with your script into git.

This is a bug in Denemo, it is trying to be clever and supplying an extra }, because I guess, it doesn't know that end tuplet does this (it also doesn't know that start tuplet does a { so that is ok)
Workaround - ignore, or insert a "}" rather than use endtuplet which is a built-in.

Hmm... My script has a bug. The lilypond it produces has one extra }. I can't see how to prevent that. I of course use EndTuplet to end the tuplet. How can this be fixed? It will generate a pdf when you go to print, but shouldn't have the lilypond error. Not sure why the extra } appears.

This script should let you enter any tuplets and will work as well as the 9/8 script which it's based on:

( let ((top #f) (bottom #f) (DirectiveText #f) (DirectiveDisplay #f) )
(set! top (d-GetUserInput "Enter tuplet numerator " "Enter the fraction to multiply the duration by, numerator first. E.g., for triplets, enter 2, then 3. Numerator:" "2" ) )
(set! bottom (d-GetUserInput "Enter tuplet denominator" "Enter the fraction's denominator:" "3" ) )
(d-DirectivePut-standalone-minpixels "Tuplet" 20)
(d-CursorLeft)
(set! DirectiveText (string-append "\\times " top "/" bottom " { ") )
(set! DirectiveDisplay (string-append "~" bottom "/" top) )
(d-DirectivePut-standalone-postfix "Tuplet" DirectiveText)
(d-DirectivePut-standalone-display "Tuplet" DirectiveDisplay )
(d-CursorRight)
(d-RefreshDisplay)
)

I have pushed a 9/8 tuplet (whatever it should be called). This script should be developed to insert any two digits. (Invitation to volunteer!)
Note that Denemo will think the bar is overfull, you have to ignore that.

Thank you for including 128th notes. (I use lilypond 2.13.3)

free tuplets:

With 9/8 tuplet I mean nine 128th notes in the time of eight 128th notes - I don't know the english name for that. (Septuplet would be 7/8 Tuplet)

The correct lilypond command would be: \times 8/9

126th and 256th notes are now in git. The display is not always right, and I have not included them on the menus, but they can be inserted via the Note/Rests entry toolbar (peculiar looking icons) or via scheme.

If you haven't got a git version that you can insert them using Other->insert lilypond e.g.

c'128

will give note c' at 1/128th

In all cases you will need a fairly recent LilyPond to get printout.

I'll add 128 and 256th notes, which is as far as it is trivial to go.
What do you mean by 9/8 triplet? I have noticed that you can do nested triplets - both Denemo and the LilyPond engraver cope, although Denemo grumbles.

I need for Beethoven "Sonate Pathetique" 128th notes and a 9/8 tuplet. Could you add please these commands to Denemo.

Thank you very much for your very promising program.
