I agree, but fixing this is not a simple change without duplicating a lot of code.  Once I'm caught up on everything else I didnt notice because gmail is eating my notifications I will give this another shot, I don't like what I had 1st try...

If I run this command, then I get one file opened and 3 "New Buffer"s.
It seems a bit silly that directories create new buffers. I think that
nano should ignore any directories listed on the command line.

echo foo > foo ; mkdir bar baz bloooooop ; nano foo bar baz bloooooop ; rm -rf foo mkdir bar baz bloooooop
