I can't reproduce this with the current version (although I vaguely remember trying it at some point and seeing the reported error).

Maybe some change indirectly fixed this. Since you wrote of "constantly" getting these errors, could you check again and possibly report other test cases ?

Version GNU Backgammon 0.90-mingw 20090625.
I set up this position from a recent post by Misja : Position ID: 23YHAEC/AQAAAA Match ID: 8AllACAACAAA. Ok: as described in the post.
Then I edit the position to change the score to -2, -2.
I get 23YHAEC/AQAAAA:cAllABAACAAA in the GNUBg edit line.
Quitting edit mode, I save the file in sgf format.
I quit Gnubg and reopen it by double clicking the newly created sgf file, but I gate this position instead :
fwAAANt2BwBAAA:MAFgABAACAAA. I do not get anymore crashing error when saving sgf files as reported before, but I constantly get this type of errors (position, dice or cube value altered).
