That's it. This problem (and #26363 as well) happens with code compiled without --enable-threads.

This is weird. Do you have different thread settings on the two computers?

I've done some more tests :

- on a RHEL 5 machine, it works as expected

- a clean current version from CVS fails as described on my FreeBSD machine (my usual gnubg has small some modifications, I expected them to be irrelevant to this problem)

- compiling without -O2 doesn't help

- running without gnubgautorc (just loading the "set rollout ..." lines as a command file) doesn't help

I will try to play with assertions or gdb's breakpoints to see what happens when the rollout stops.

It does work for me with your settings. The too-good stops after 282 trials and the take-pass stops after 1253 trials (after the number of trials is raised from 324)

works for me after the suggested change. Could you save and attach your rollout settings if you still have the problem.

The change suggested in comment #1 does not make any visible difference.

could you try to replace the line

rcRollout.rJsdLimit < MIN(ajiJSD[0].rJSD, ajiJSD[0].rJSD))

with

rcRollout.rJsdLimit < MIN(ajiJSD[0].rJSD, ajiJSD[1].rJSD))

in rollout.c and see if that helps.

My understanding is that JSD-controlled rollouts of cube decisions used to stop when the nd/dt decision was clear but not necessarily the dt/pass or nd/pass, but that Christian fixed that a few month ago (with comments in rollout.c like "/* compare dt to dp */" that tend to confirm it).

It doesn't seem to work. The 2 attached position were rolled out with a number of trials of 324 and stopped too soon, when nd/dt was clear and the min. trials number was reached but either the nd or the dt equity are still too close to 1.
