Version GNU Backgammon 0.90-mingw 20090403 on XP/SP3
Now, even worse: when the dialog box opens to warn that the given file name is that of an already existing file, and asking for confirmation that the file must be saved, if I press the cancel button, Gnugb also crashes, automatically launching Visual Studio (installed on my machine for other purposes). VS then says:
Exception non gérée à 0x7c921669 [unhandled exception] dans gnubg.exe : 0xC0000005: Violation d'accès lors de la lecture de l'emplacement [acces violation while reading] 0x00000001.
May I add a few specifics of my installation, which might be of relevance?
The hard drive has been divided in 5 partitions i.e. 5 logical disks.
Gnugb is on “F:”, in “F:\gnugb” not on “C:”
The “My documents” folder (in fact: Mes documents) is the hole drive “G:”
This error is not transient, but always happens when saving an “sgf” file in place of an existing file.
I have a feeling it might be related to the ways file paths are handled in the code.
Variant: for further testing purposes, I then tried to open an “sgf” file in one folder (e.g. “G:\BG\Positions\Magriel”, modify it, and saved it in the “F:\gnugb” folder, with the name of a file that already exists there, I am **not** asked for confirmation (OK/Cancel dialog box), Gnugb crashes immediately! Then VS says:
Exception non gérée à 0x7c938beb dans gnubg.exe : 0xC0000005: Violation d'accès lors de la lecture de l'emplacement 0x65746961.
This is slightly different from the previous error signal.
Sorry about being long, I am trying to build a position database, but have to face these little bugs.
