Trueprint's installation routine makes the assumption that the directories it is to be installed in already exist, I believe. This causes problems if one tries to install it in a non-standard location, such as /opt. For example, try ./configure --prefix=/opt/trueprint and it has difficulties when it reaches the install step.

After a little investigation, found that the install tool (at least on Linux) assumes the target directory exists. It needs to be invoked with -d to create the directory.
