This is a duplicate of the support question at
<http://savannah.gnu.org/support/?106673>,
and certainly not a gettext bug if the directory
name that you pass to bindtextdomain() does not work.

Hi guys,

I'm new on this forum, so first of all, "hello everybody".

I'm working on a project which imply using gettext to localize strings in a Win32 application.

Everything seems to work fine, translations are done correctly when the application is installed in the default location.

But when the path of the binaries is changed to one containing unicode characters (for example, accent à, è, ... ), nothing works anymore, the translation are not made and the IDs of the string are displayed (returned by the "gettext()" method as provided).

I thought the problem might be when I link the domain to a given location, using "bindtextdomain" method. For now, I get the path using a wchar_t* array, then convert it to UTF-8 encoding so as to be able to pass it to "bindtextdomain".

Does anybody has a clue why it is not working? Does Gettext support Unicode path?

Thank you for any comment.

Cheers,

JR
