The maximum allowed match length is 64 and that is probably causing the problem you are observing. I've added a warning to the code if somebody tries to import matches longer than that. It really doesn't make sense to support longer matches as that would require development of very large match equity tables. (The current ones stops in the 11-15 point area). What you probably should do is to train your program in moneygames (match length zero I believe) and then you should be able import any number of games, limited only by the amount of memory available.

I would like to use gnubg to analyse the playing strength of a backgammon program I wrote, from saved .mat files of my program playing against itself.

If I analyse short matches (match winning score <=49) gnubg analyses the saved matches well. But the rating of the strength of my program varies a lot between different sets of matches i.e. if I generate a 49 point match and rate it, then generate another 49 point match and rate it, I might get ratings between 1500 and 1650 for an identical algorithm. I would like to analyse much longer matches to reduce the variability in the rating. But if I increase the match score to say 99 the analysis window is garbled with non numeric characters in numeric fields and also invalid calculations. If I increase the match winning score even further then sometimes gnubg crashes altogether. I suspect that analysis of long matches is causing some variable or array to grow bigger than the place it is being stored in.
