it appears to be a mix between soname change and isntallation domain problems.

It works here for me now. Anybody else?

I verified on an XP and a W2k box: updating core on the latest windows installer, yields unusable GUI applications.

no usable error gets shown to the user.

gdb reports:

warning: 2008-12-02 10:56:28.902 DataBasin[3588] Did not find correct version of
backend, falling back to std.

warning: 2008-12-02 10:56:28.948 DataBasin[3588] NSApplication.m:285 Assertion
failed in initialize_gnustep_backend. Unable to find backend back

the windows backend was compiled and installed. Where should I find it?
