Looks like a gnome-terminal problem, and one that's since been fixed.

I'm not sure why C-a l doesn't fix it; perhaps gnome-terminal is actually toggling echo mode?! Anyway, closing out.

I cannot seem to reproduce this bug with xterm (version 210-3), putty or urxvt. Is there any specific screenrc or a terminal that causes this bug?

When pasting (Xterm paste, not screen registers) mild-sized content, much of the content appears not to be displayed, though it is still made available as input to the application. For instance, if I paste the example screenrc filefrom bug 23303 (only ~100 bytes) into

I just get:

And yet catting the contents of scr back out reveals that the contents were copied intact.

Perhaps screen has problems when it receives more than a few characters as input; this might also be related to bug 13249 (which, however, may no longer be reproducible, as its for older versions of screen).
