It ain't art but...

I made each Euro conform (I thought) better to its face design,
and made one further concession to the EC logo: I made the top terminator in-line with the ends of the horizontals. It looks a little goofy in Mono, but maybe there's no avoiding some degree of goofiness in Mono.

I'm not sure I fully understand this complaint, but the glyph could use improvement--mostly in Sans and Mono. I disagree
with the remark about the Euro being based on the letter C of the font, and that the lengths should be the same across font variants.

I think of it as more of a big lunate epsilon with two horizontals. See the remark by the European Commission:
http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/publications/publication_summary6125_en.htm
I don't like serifs on this symbol.

Unicode sample
shows a modulated seriffed capital C with horizontals
having vertical terminators.

European Commission

The euro logo is unmodulated and unseriffed, quite round, with
diagonal terminators on the top arm and horizontals, but with the
bottom arm terminated vertically.

As it is now in CVS

Serif: Is un-seriffed glyph with diagonal terminators.
Size, weight, modulation consistent with Latin capitals.
Not like Nimbus glyph, which has serifs.
I prefer the un-serifed form, even in the serif face.
But the glyph deviates a lot from the idea of the EU
design:
The diagonals could line up, the terminators could be
more like the EU design.

Sans: Unseriffed, unmodulated. Like the EC design, but
quite squashed horizontally.
This is from URW++ Nimbus, and is most like the EC,
but I don't like it at all, due to the squash.

Mono Is based on capital C, is from Nimbus.
I don't much like the serif.

This is from Jacob Poon's report of 2007-10,
https://savannah.gnu.org/support/?106274

--------------------------------------------------
Euro sign (U+20AC) has inconsistent horizontal strokes and serifs across font variants. Although official Euro currency symbol has diagonal stroke terminators, the symbol used in the font is not meant to be an exact replica of the official symbol, nor the glyph needs to be an exact replica to be uniquely recognizable. In fact, Euro sign in FreeMono does not have diagonal stroke terminators. Latin capital letter C should be based on the respective glyphs used in Basic Latin area, for all font variants. Lengths of horizontal strokes should be the same across variants.
