0.8.1 is really old, 0.8.2 is out, 0.8.3 is coming out
next week.
I suggest you fetch 0.8.3 from CVS or latest snapshot
from http://www.gnashdev.org/dev_snapshots/
and try again

I have just installed gnash and tried to run one of the movies from the testsuite. Trying other swf movies I get the same result. See the output below.

I am running Kubuntu 7.10 on an AMD XP 1900+ system with an NVIDIA FX5500 256 MB graphics card and 1.5 GB memory. I installed gnash straight from a repository, for version output see below.
