ah, good point. i think both programs might actually be involved -- at one point, info was breaking multibyte characters "internally". (the previous report, that Sergey already fixed, so it's what i was thinking about when i read this one.)

anyway, since it's there in texi2html/tp, i'll close this.

thanks.

I am not sure that it is an info issue, but rather a makeinfo issue because end of lines are not broken rightly -- though maybe I didn't really understand the report.

A good news is that end of line breaking in chinese should be right in tp (that is, line may be broken between any wide chinese character). There is even a test in the texi2html testsuite (if I recall well more or less this test), that is not currently fully ported to tp, but that will eventually be.

Sergey, do you have any interest in looking at this? Chinese formatting in Info ...

[I have no clue how to deal with this. Any patches welcome. Test source attached here. There's a png file attached in the original mail with the output. --karl]

Looks like i was too optimistic. There actually seem to still have
other problems. I tested four cases, with fresh cvs checkout:

1. English texts only
2. Chinese texts only, aligned in source
3. Chinese texts only, not aligned in source
4. a mix of English and Chinese texts

Only case 1 and 2 seems to format info outputs nicely. Outputs in case
3 and 4 are rather poor, as shown in attached image. I also attached
the test file.
