was completely unrelated to bounds... we loaded a movie
in an unloaded one.

Ah, it seems I'm closer now.
It's completely unrelated to the inv bounds indeed.
The problem is we're loading a movie onto an unloaded
sprite rather then pointing to a loaded one..

Attached movies show the problem.
loader.swf will loade loaded.swf.

Playing loaded.swf directly works fine,
playing loader.swf fails in that sprite_instance::display
for the top-level movie finds it's bounds to be NULL,
thus not in the "clipping" area.

Disabling the "in-clipping-area" check makes it work again.
