Works for me now.

I noticed that starting gnash with -v still keeps the verbosity
at 0 in the preference dialog (but -v does it's job...).
Seems fine to me, was just wondering if it was intentional.

That is probably a side-effect of this (not the only function that does it):

void
RcInitFile::useActionDump(bool value)
{
// GNASH_REPORT_FUNCTION;
_actionDump = value;
if (value) {
_verbosity++;
}
}

which was evidently designed to turn verbosity on when certain options are true It makes sense in a way.

As far as I've ever noticed, verbosity is either on or off, despite it being a uint32_t (allowing very fine control over verbosity level!).

I'll drop the automatic increment.

set verbosity 0

then use the preference dialog, verbosity is shown
as being set to 1. Not a big deal, set to 0, then save,
when you restart it's again at 1

annoying...

The effect is you get all the message, even w/out passing
-v to the binary.
