I am just re-writing this code, so it should work fine soon.

I am experiencing the same problem on one of my linux (Ubuntu) systems as well. This bug says it was fixed. How do I go about fixing this on my system? Im running version 0.15 installed through my synaptic manager.

Here is the error I get in the terminal:

(No game) The program 'gnubg' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'GLXBadContext'.
(Details: serial 3672 error_code 177 request_code 159 minor_code 5)

Thanks for any help!

Hi Jon,

could you take a look at this one. It happens on some of my linux systems as well when compositing is enabled. It appears that some of the gdk_gl_drawable_begin//_end calls are unneeded and causes this bug

http://osdir.com/ml/debian.devel.announce/2006-11/msg00010.html

the actual assertion hit is this one

xcb_xlib.c:41: xcb_xlib_lock: Assertion `!c->xlib.lock' failed.

I remember that I removed two _begin//_end calls and everything seemed to work fine and then I forgot about it again since I don't normally use desktop compositing.

I'll look up the position of the offending calls in the code if you believe that it is right that they can be removed.

Christian.

My version or the game comes from here (there's a patch added): http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?do_Details=1&ID=14140&O=0&L=0&C=0&K=gnubg&SB=n&SO=a&PP=25&do_MyPackages=0&do_Orphans=0&SeB=nd

When trying to open the appearance menu via Settings --> Appearance, gnubg just crashes. The console output:

Locking assertion failure. Backtrace:
