Glad you like it. I'll close this bug, then.

In opera 9.5 gnash works the same way as in firefox.
Bad resizing, poor performance.

Opera uses the NPAPI, but does'nt support the xEmbed extension of it used in newer Mozilla plugins. We aren't the only ones to have this problem with Opera: see http://my.opera.com/csant/blog/2007/12/04/linux-opera-flash-and-plugins). The same page suggests that xEmbed will be supported in future releases of Opera's NPAPI, which should allow Gnash to work.

Anyone interested in using Opera and Gnash user could try the latest snapshot (see http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2007/11/30/unix-plugin-milestone), and you shouldn't even have to pretend you're running Firefox to run gnash.

This bug should probably be a 'won't fix', but I'll leave it open for testing.

The NSAPI based gnash plugin uses xEmbed, yes.

The line:

return NPERR_INCOMPATIBLE_VERSION_ERROR;

suggest me that that plugin will NOT work when you get
that message. If it works you might be having something
different from Gnash showing you the page...

So... the browser (opera) should support xEmbed?

The message suggests only Mozilla is supported, but since konqueror works, I'm guessing it's not true?

Can't it be just true ?

Here's the code:

// Make sure that the browser supports functionality we need
err = CallNPN_GetValueProc(NPNFuncs.getvalue, NULL,
NPNVSupportsXEmbedBool,
(void *)&supportsXEmbed);

if (err != NPERR_NO_ERROR || !supportsXEmbed) {
cout << "No xEmbed support in this Mozilla version!" << endl;
return NPERR_INCOMPATIBLE_VERSION_ERROR;
} else {
cout << "xEmbed supported in this Mozilla version" << endl;
}

There's not much more to say,
opera/gnash plugin prints
"No xEmbed support in this Mozilla version!",
when I open a web page with flash.
