I confirm the fix. Other problems seem to be the TextField
height isn't enforced and the scrolling doesn't work.
I suggest submitter (or anyone else) to file another bug report for it.

I've hijacked this bug, since the original problem (probably segfault / abort) was evidently fixed in head before the bug was submitted.

Something (I assume strk's as_environment change) has fixed Bejewelled.swf, so as far as I'm concerned this bug can be closed.

Try this option in XML::getXMLOptions():

XML_PARSE_NOCDATA = 16384 : merge CDATA as text nodes

And regsite.swf (the news page) works if you strip out the and parts. So XML isn't completely broken.

regsite.swf has the data stored like this:

9058

<artist_id>395</artist_id>
<date>10/19/07</date>

VH1 20 Countdown 10/20/07

October 19, 2007

...

which gnash also reads as empty data.

http://www.kirupa.com/web/xml/XMLbasics6.htm discusses CDATA nodes.

One bug with the bejeweled case seems to be that comments ( ) are added as a child to the parent node, and when gnash looks up firstChild.nodeValue, an empty string is returned instead of the string it's looking for.

The first child in each case comes from the comment and is completely empty.

Stripping the comments out of the xml file below shows an improvement with gnash -va (i.e. the correct strings are set), but they don't show up on the movie itself.

This is also affected by the an XML problem (offline testing just needs both files in the same directory or setting the base URL).

Works fine for me too. The text problems are partly another case of failing to handle XML.

Seems to work with gnash head, except for other bugs in text rendering.

Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10, x386. Firefox (2.0) plug-in. The site says it just requires Flash 7, but nothing is displayed except a coloured background.
